Wow, what a fun week of blogging it has been! I am so excited that this week I got to share a little slice of my blogging world with y’all! I hope you all learned a lot but most importantly, I hope y’all feel empowered to blog your hearts out and to not let rejection hold you back! When I was planning this weeks blog posts, I saw on my calendar this week that it was my blogiversary so what better way to celebrate and end my blogging series week with a reflection post about everything I have learned while blogging!
Don’t Be Afraid To Put Yourself Out There
When I first started blogging I didn’t really advertise much about it to anyone because I was so so scared of what people would think or say. However, people still found my page and for the most part no one said anything negative they all thought it was cool! When I started blogging, I was honestly shy to do anything that I wanted to do. I remember for the longest time, I wanted to take pictures at different locations other than my house but never would because I was sooo shy and nervous about people starting. Now I will take a picture on a busy street or in front of a crowd because who cares who’s looking! I have learned that if you want others to be passionate about your blog or website or whatever your hobby is, you have to be passionate about it yourself! Be proud of who you are and what you are doing, it is so important!
Everyone’s Success Comes At Different Rates, Be Patient
When I decided to start The Trendy Gal (back then, Southern Remix), I did not know that other fashion bloggers existed and lived in my own bubble for a long time. However, once I realized there were people making a living off of buying clothes, I was eager to join the race to the top. What I wish I would have known is that success does not happen over night. If you want the results, you have to be willing to put in long hours and hard work to get there. I have been blogging for about 5 years now and last year is when I decided to look at my blog with a business mindset. While I still have a long way to go, that was the first step for me and I keep reminding myself to keep working hard and results will happen!
Do NOT Compare Yourself To Others
Sometimes you can be your own worst enemy and sometimes it can be so hard not to compare yourself to others. I catch myself doing it all the time on Instagram I see other bloggers and I think to myself, “if I was skinnier I would have more followers” or “her presets look so good why can’t my feed look like hers.” The Truth is, if you compare yourself to others, you have no room for growth. Don’t be afraid to try something new and original because isn’t that why we all started blogging?
Don’t Let Rejection Stop You From Doing What You Love
I remember when I first reached out to SheIn for a collaboration. I got rejected instantly and I am pretty sure I stopped blogging for a few weeks. I really felt so ashamed and growth for me, was hard to come by. If I could go back in time to that moment, I wish I could have told myself to keep trying and push harder. Since then, I have applied to SheIn twice and I’ve been rejected twice buy you know what, I keep pushing and I know I will get there but I will not give up just because someone told me no.
When It Comes To Your Style, Be Yourself
For years, I thought to be a big blogger, I had to be wearing similar things to other bloggers or at least be on the same page as other bloggers. That is false y’all! It is soooo easy to get lost in other peoples feeds just judging yourself but truth is, followers do not enjoy seeing the same thing on everyone so create your own style, wear what you feel confident in! For me, that is pink! I have loved pink ever since I was little but one girl made a comment one time saying its for kids and I stopped wearing the color pink. However, I decided this year that I didn’t care and that I was going to wear as much pink as I want and I am sure y’all saw a big switch in my Instagram theme, it is now pink gall-ore! whether you enjoy wearing black or leather skirts or ruffles, own it girl!!
Always Focus On Why You Started Blogging
These days, as my blog grows and as I land more collabs, it can be easy to focus on one day making a living from blogging. However, I want to remind myself and you that it isn’t all about the money. I blog because I am so passionate about clothes and I personally think that a good outfit can change your mood, day, personality, and confidence. Sure, money is fantastic but it is even more fantastic that I get to help y’all feel and look fabulous! Now, I want you to ask yourself why you blog _______________.
Blogging is a long and rewarding journey and I hope after this week y’all conquer all your dreams and go after your goals!
