I have been meaning to get this post up ASAP after out trip but there was just so much holiday content that I wanted to post so I pushed it back to today! NYC was a dream during Christmas and I am so glad I got to spend a few days there. Since I did go during Christmas, we did a ton of Christmas stuff but we also did a few non christmasy things that you can do anytime!
Day 1
So the first day we got there we did not have a full day because our flight got to NY at 12 and it took an hour or more to get from the airport to our hotel. We stayed at the Wellington in Manhattan and it was amazing! The people were so nice and the rooms were cozy. My sister and I actually got our own room which was awesome because my parents like to go to bed early so we got to stay up and do whatever without waking them up. After we unpacked, we headed to Rockefeller and we hung out there for a little bit. You can also ice skate there as well but we did not because it is a very small rink and it was super crowded. We think headed to 5th avenue and walked around and saw the Macy’s light show that they have every night during the Christmas season. We then took 5th avenue all the way down to central park and we saw the plaza and looked at central park for a little. We were all pretty exhausted from traveling all day so we turned in pretty early the first night. We also saw radio city and the big red ornament balls that is across from Rockefeller the first night.
Day 2
The second day my mom and I woke up at 5:30am to go to the Today show. Personally, I only did this for my mom but if you’re thinking of going, I would skip it. Waking up super early to be on Tv for a flash second was not worth it to me. Also, if you want to be in the front I suggest getting there at 4:30am which is too early for me in my opinion. After the today show, we got bagels from Pick A Bagel and it was absolutely delicious! We then walked through time square which is crazy crowded but very cool to Bryant park. This Christmas market was the best and is so cute! They have an ice rink there as well and is bigger and less crowded. I suggest this one over the Rockefeller one.
Day 3
The third day we walked around Central Park in the morning and it was beautiful. We also went to Pick a Bagel again because it was so good. Central Park also has an ice rink too that is bigger and less crowded as well and is a good price. A lot of Christmas movies were filmed there like Home Alone. Then, we went to Serendipity and we had there famous frozen hot chocolate. If you go there you NEED to have a reservation or else you will be waiting a long time. We then walked from Serendipity to Grand Central Station which was a little bits of a walk so I suggest either wearing good shoes, unlike me, or taking the sub way or even a lift. This was super pretty and a lot of fun. You can take a subway from here as well.
Other Things We Did On Our Trip:
- Brooklyn Bridge: suggest walking it at sunset
- Cartier
- Broadway: we saw Dear Evan Hansen
- High Line: the old train tracks
- The bull
- Wallstreet
- The statue of Liberty: You can take a Ferry around it
- Carriage ride around Central Park
- The Market in Central Park
- The Strand which has miles of books
