Before I jump right into this blog post I thought I would explain a little! When I first started high school I was nervous, scared, and excited about a fresh start. I wish I would’ve had some guidance about how to tackle high school. Now that I’m a senior and about to graduate I thought that I would do a recap of what I’ve learned over the past for years and how to get through the good and the bad and be a guide for girls in high school or about to enter high school who are nervous and excited just like I was four years ago! A lot of this series is very personal to me and some of it has been difficult to write but I poured my heart out into this and I hope this is helpful and I hope y’all enjoy!
For my first post I decided to talk about dating. In high school, dating is totally different. I still remember in middle school that dating meant sitting next to your “boyfriend” at the cafeteria table and maybe holding his hand under the table. It still cracks me up. When I started high school I didn’t really think much about dating until my sophomore. Dating can be a challenge but so rewarding in the end because you get to know someone so well and it can make your high school experience so fun! I put together a few tips for anyone who is thinking about dating in high school or already is!
Don’t date someone because of their status
I fell into this when I dated my first boyfriend. He had a ton of friends and was popular and I thought that’s what I wanted. I thought that if I dated him more people would accept me (which is totally false). Dating someone just because their popular can change you as a person. It might be good for you but in my case it made me into a person that I wasn’t. Don’t sell yourself short of the fabulous girl you are!
Don’t ditch your friends for the guy
When Scott ( my current boyfriend and the one in the pictures) and I first started dating we were always together ( I mean alwaysssss). We spent so much time together on the weekends that I totally forgot to hangout with my friends. I don’t regret all the time we spent together when we first started dating because we got to know each other so well and we became really close and I realized more things about myself but, don’t forget to have a girls night every now and then to keep up with your gal pals!
Don’t make it too serious
Dating In high school is such a fun time! You get to know the type of person you are and the type of people you’re into! Just have fun getting to know someone and hanging out with them! Some of the best dates Scott and I have done is playing basketball at his house and going to the park to play Whiffle ball!
Don’t change yourself to be with someone
All ways be yourself! If someone can’t except you for who you are then don’t change yourself! Also don’t let anyone change you! You’re unique and special and if someone doesn’t treat you like that in high school, then just wait because someone will think the worlds of you some day!
Hope y’all enjoyed and I hope this was helpful! I’ll have a new one up next week so make sure to subscribe to stay updated! Caio!
