So I have been debating for a while now whether or not to get an Apple Watch, and this past week I decided to go to the Apple store to check them out. I have been the proud owner of a Fitbit Charge 2 for about a year now and I loved it but when the Apple Watch came out I was curious to see if it was different. I went to the Apple store and I had many questions about the Apple Watch. If you don’t already know there are 3 different types of Apple Watches: The Apple Watch Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3 with GPS, Cellular, or both! I asked the worker helping me what the difference between each one because if it was just like my Fitbit Charge 2 I wasn’t going to get one. He told me the Series 1 is similar to the Fitbit so I should go with the Series 3. So let me back up and explain to y’all the difference between the 2 types of Series 3 watches. So you can get the Series 3 with just GPS, just cellular, or with both. If you get the one with cellular it’s $10 extra a month on your cellular plan but basically, the watch can act independently without your phone. So for example, if you went on a run and wanted to leave your phone at home you could stream music on your watch and get texts and updates as well! Since I am never without my phone I decided to go with just GPS. I’ve been wearing my watch every day since I got it and I love it and I’m going to tell you why I love it and some apps I love for the Apple Watch!
So first off the Apple Watch Series 3 has Seri and she actually talks back to you! I love this feature because I love being able to say “Hey Siri, remind me that I have a podcast interview today at 4pm!” and she puts it in my reminds for me! I know that you can do this with your phone but, when I am at the gym and working out and don’t want to pull out my phone I can talk to Seri without stopping my workout which is great! I feel like it’s like having a personal assistant with you everywhere writing down things you need to do! I know this sounds like a “first world problem” but it is very convenient!
The second thing I love about the Apple Watch Series 3 is being able to workout and listen to music without my phone! This has been the best thing so far! I used to wear this fanny pack to the gym that I would put my phone in so that I could listen to music and workout hands-free. Now that I have the Apple Watch, I can leave my phone in my purse or in a locker and I can still listen to music! It’s definitely an advantage if you like to workout!
Speaking of working out, the Apple Watch has many workout apps that work on the Apple Watch! Two apps that I have loved using so far are Keelo and Seven. Keelo is a HIIT app which gives you a great workout that includes intervals and you can change the workout from your watch which is awesome. Seven is just a regular workout app that gives you workouts that are specific to different parts of your body. This has been a huge perk for me because I cannot tell you how many times I have sat at the gym wasting time trying to find a workout on my phone! Being able to just press start on my watch and the workout is right there is awesome!
As most of y’all know I recently launched my Podcast, Southern Remix Podcast, on iTunes and I do a lot of fashion research for it. The one thing I love about my watch is that it will alert me anytime there is news in the fashion industry and I can save each article from my watch! This has definitely helped me to organize my news and stuff I want to talk about in my episodes. Also, I do a lot of podcast interviews and I can record interviews right from my watch which is totally awesome!
If you’re looking into buying an Apple Watch, I would say its totally worth it and I suggest getting the Series 3! I love it and its a great tool for anyone!
