Hey guys! I am sooooo excited about this makeup look that I tried out! Its super easy and it has a lot of soft base colors with a few colors that really pop that enhance some of your best features! I have to say that if you have blue eyes this look is perfect for you but if you don’t it is still a great look! So i’ll go ahead and get started and show y’all how I created this look and how you can too. Enjoy!
Okay so first I always start with my eyes because I always put tape on the corners of my eyes to make sure I have a nice sharp line for my eyeshadow. I just use regular Scotch tape but a lot of beauty stores like Sephora and Ulta have tape specifically to put under your eyes to get a clean line. So the eye I went for was a gold and brown smokey eye that isn’t too intense and and dramatic. I used two pallets for this look. The first pallet I used was the Naked Urban Decay pallet and I used the shades naked and bucked and blended those two colors right on the brow bone. The brush I used was a blending brush I got from Ulta. It doesn’t have a name but I have a picture of it at the end of this blog if you are wondering what it is. To get the dramatic brown smokiness in the corner of my lid that I was going for I used the Affirmation pallet by Makeup Revolution. There is no name for the shade I used but it is the 12th one in the palette and I used a Vander brush with a point to blend it into the corner of my lids. You want to blend a triangle shape into the corner of your lid. Next I went back to the Naked Urban Decay pallet and I used the shade half baked which is a bright gold color just for some extra pop to finish my eyeshadow.
After my eyes I always prime and do my foundation. My skin is very oily so I always have to prime on the tip of my nose, in between my brows on my forehead, the sides of my nose and my cheeks. My absolute favorite primer is the Maybelline Baby Skin instant pore eraser. It doesn’t make my skin too oily and it is very light weight and helps my makeup glide into my pores. My face is also very red due to my rosacea so it is very hard to find a color that matches my entire face and a full coverage foundation . To even out my skin color I do two coats of foundation in two different colors. The first coat I do is a very light coat of Rimmel London Lasting Finish foundation in the shade soft beige #200. This shade is slightly darker than my actual skin color but it helps to even out all the colors on my face. One of my all-time favorite foundations is the Dream Liquid Mousse by Maybelline. It is super light weight and goes on really well, however it is not full coverage so I always use it as a second coat over a darker shade to even out the colors on my face. The shade I use is Natural Ivory #30. I blend all of my foundation out with a Still Détente foundation brush that I got from Walmart and I love it because it really blends your make up really well . After foundation I conceal under my eyes with the Maybelline Me Fit foundation in the shade Fair #15. I blend my under eyes out with a regular beauty blender that you can get from any beauty store. After that I powder under my eyes using Maybelline Loose Powder in the shade Light #01 and the same beauty blender.
Contouring is one of my favorite things about make up. I am a huge fan of powder contour but I’ve used cream too and it works just as well so just use whatever you prefer when contouring. I used the Makeup Revolution Iconic Lights and Contour Pro palette and I used the 3rd contour shade in the bottom row and I apply this using a small spoon brush to the sides of my nose, right under my cheek bones, and my forehead as close to my hairline as I can get. After that I blend and then apply my Hoola Benefit bronzer right over my contour just to give some extra color and definition to where I already contoured. After that I use the same loose powder that I used under my eyes and apply it all over my face. This helps with setting your make up and if you are like me and you have oily skin this will help to soak up the oil and keep your make up looking great all day.
Next I fill in my eyebrows. I will get real with y’all here when I say that eyebrows scare me. I have a fear of eyebrows because I used to do musicals when I was in middle school and they used to fill in our eyebrows super dark and big and I’ve always had a fear of them. Thankfully, I have been able to cope with my eyebrow fear a little bit and I have found ways to not make my eyebrows look so dark. for my eyebrows I use Maybelline Master Kaja cream eyeliner buuuut I use it on my eyebrows because why not! I use the shade midnight brown and I use another one of my Vendor brushes to fill in my eye brows. As you can see from the pictures I added I don’t go crazy and make them super dark and make them look super defined, I just fill in where there are patches to make my brows look like one because my eyebrows are already super dark on there own.
To finish off my face after my brows, I add blush to my cheeks. The blush I used was the Milani Powder Blush in the shade Tea Rose #08. I always smile when applying my blush and I just apply it using anoooother Vendor brush because I have a huge set and I love them. I apply the blush right on my cheeks in little circle motions. After that I highlight right above where I put my blush. I do my contour, blush, and highlighter in layers right above each other, so it goes: contour then blush and then right above the blush highlighter. The highlighter I used is the Makeup Revolution Skin Kiss Highlighter in the shade Ice Kiss and you guessed it, I apply it with a Vendor fan brush. I then did my lips in a very bright red shade in my favorite lipstick by Maybelline called Vivid Matte Liquid and I just apply it all over my lips in the shade Rebel Red #35 without lining them. This lipstick brand is my favorite but I will wait for another blog post to rant about it.
After my whole face is finished I go back to finish up my eyes. I apply a very light and thin coat of eyeliner just to make my eyes and lashes a little more visible. The eyeliner I used is the Urban Decay razor sharp eyeliner in the number 3. I absolutely love this eyeliner because it is a brush on eyeliner and it goes on so smooth and so well. I just do a very small wing on the outside of my eyes just for a little bit of a dramatic touch without looking over the top. Lastly I coat my lashes with a thin coat of Mega Plush Volum’ express by Maybelline to top off my look.
I hope y’all enjoyed this tutorial and I hope that y’all would try it out and let me know how it goes. All the pictures of everything I used are below! .My sweater is from Nordstroms in the size large and my hair is just pulled back in a half up half down bun. Tune in every Sunday for a new blog post! See y’all next week! 🙂
